After the Pow X Teemill
We're really mindful of our potential impact of on the environment - and ensuring we chose a sustainable and responsible supply chain.

Our mission at After the Pow has always been to create super stylish, comfy and great fitting clothing - for chilling in the chalet (or at home!) after a solid bluebird powder day, a hike, a day at the beach or just when you’re back from the graft dealing with the daily hustle!

But we also were really mindful of our potential impact of on the environment - and ensuring a sustainable and responsible supply chain was used to bring our range of clothing to you. After what felt like endless chats, meetings and options, we decided to partner with Teemill and would could not have made a better choice!! In this blog we wanted to tell about not only why we chose Teemill, but also shout out the amazing production processes that get our products to you - as well as looking at some of the issues that drove our choice.

From the very start, Plants. Not plastic.

Over a million tonnes of clothing are purchased annually in the UK according to a recent WRAP report, an increase of almost 20% tonnes compared to 5 years prior. As more people buy more stuff, this means fast fashion is getting faster still.

Stopping for a moment though, if 60% of that is made from plastic and 99% of it is never recycled, that means tonnes of polluting waste going to landfill or incineration per second. Burying or burning plastic isn’t a sensible strategy. The only way to get serious about sustainability is a redesign from the start. For us this means using natural organic materials and renewable energy to make our products, each of which is designed to be remade when it’s worn out. Natural, sustainable, and never to landfill. One tonne at a time.

Fast or Slow Fashion? Change fashion.

In Europe, fashion companies went from an average offering of two collections per year in 2000 to five in 2011, with a World Economic Forum report highlighting two of the largest producers who each increased output to over 20 collections per year. Where the industry is set up to mass produce products speculatively, this creates mountains of waste. Plastic waste, in reality, with nearly two thirds of all clothing now made from synthetic material like polyester. Our products are made from natural materials like organic cotton, and printed one at a time in real time, to order - that’s what people need, when they need it. This is what sustainability looks like.

Shopping with us is a vote for less waste

In our supply chain, we work with manufacturers who share our values. That means designing out waste. When products you've purchased from us become worn out or are no longer your style, you can send them back to be remade into something new instead of sending them to landfill. They'll be transformed into recycled yarn like this and woven into new t-shirts and jumpers to give them a new life.

Did you know organic cotton can be reused?

Because our products are designed to work in harmony with the environment, they're made from natural materials like organic cotton. This makes it easier to recycle them again, and again, each time they're worn out. You can send back any of our products to be remade by scanning the QR code on the inside label and you'll get a reward to spend on your next purchase too. It's our way of saying thanks for supporting sustainable solutions.

Super soft because it's made the right way

Our products are made using organic cotton. The process involves no chemicals or methods that are harmful to the people, animals and places in the supply chain. A nice side effect is that our products feel as soft and comfy as wearing PJs all day. Good for you, good for the planet.

So that’s it - we wanted to be sure we could create an awesome brand that had as minimal impact on the environment as possible - and thanks to partnering with Teemill we have achieved just that!
